Earth Day: One Planet.
Today, on Earth Day, let’s pause to honor the ground beneath our feet, the air that fills our lungs, and the oceans that connect us all. It’s a reminder that we don’t just live on this planet, we live with it.
For someone like me, who has spent time living out of their car and walking miles through cities and wilderness alike, I’ve seen the Earth in ways many might not notice. I’ve woken up to watercolor sunrises on quiet highways, listened to the rhythm of crashing waves, found peace under the light of the moon, and admired the animal life around me. Those moments reminded me just how important it is to practice mindfulness while taking in Earths beauty.
But somewhere along the way, we can lose that connection.
In the busyness of life, school, work, and screens, we forget how good it feels to simply “be” in nature, to breathe deeply, to listen to birds sing; to sit under a tall trees shade and remember we are part of something much bigger.
This Earth Day is more than a celebration, it’s an invitation.
An invitation to slow down, step outside and smell the flowers.
This Earth Day, let’s reconnect with the world around us and do our part to protect it.
You don’t have to be a climate scientist or world leader to make a difference. Small actions matter:
– Pick up trash during a walk.
– Plant a tree in your backyard or local park.
– Go on a walk and leave your phone in your pocket.
– Talk to your kids about the value of nature.
– Say no to plastic straws, bags, bottles, and utensils. Go reusable instead.
– Support organizations doing the work to protect our land and oceans.
Ray Reynosa
Ray Reynosa grew up on the Southside of San Antonio, Texas. At just 2 years old, he was homeless, cared for by his 14-year-old brother as they fled domestic violence.
Reynosa moved between homes, often unsure of where his family was, longing for stability and love. As a teenager, he faced isolation, rebellion, and academic struggles. But with the support of caring educators who saw his potential, he pursued higher education, graduating from the University of Texas San Antonio in 2019 with a business degree.
Now, Reynosa is dedicated to giving back, empowering the next generation just as others did for him. In 2023, he published Rocky’s Adventure, a children’s book inspired by his journey of resilience and growth.
