Returning to Inspire

Roy Juarez, Jr.’s Second Journey to Brazil

In Guarujá, Brazil,

motivational speaker Roy Juarez, Jr. carried more than just his suitcase as he stepped onto the stage at Colegio Don Domenico—he brought a story that transcends borders, a message of resilience and hope. This visit marked Juarez’s return to Brazil after a life-changing presentation in 2019, reinforcing his mission to inspire youth worldwide, especially those facing hardship.

Juarez’s journey back to Brazil was made possible by the unwavering support of his best friend, Marco Barreto Jr., and Marco’s mother, Cristiane Vassao, a retired educator. Together, they reached out to local schools, ultimately partnering with Director Marcelo Mendes Passaes at Colegio Don Domenico, which eagerly welcomed the opportunity to host an international speaker with a powerful story of overcoming adversity.

Preparation for the event was meticulous. The night before, Juarez and Marco practiced with a small group of friends to ensure the keynote, “MyBag, MyHome,” translated seamlessly from English to Portuguese. Even during this intimate rehearsal, the impact was profound. Participants shared how deeply Juarez’s story resonated—one found renewed hope amidst struggles, while another felt inspired to pursue her dreams despite personal challenges.

The day of the presentation was equally thoughtful. Juarez began with an early ferry ride from Santos to Guarujá and a quick stop to purchase a fresh shirt, ensuring he looked his best for the students. “This is one way to show respect for them,” he explained.

Despite the language barrier, Juarez’s mission was clearly communicated. With Marco translating, Juarez connected with students in a simple yet profound way. From greeting each attendee with a handshake to sharing his story of overcoming homelessness, every moment reflected his dedication to empowering youth.

Juarez closed his keynote with powerful words: “Whatever your story is, please don’t give your future away because of it. That future belongs to you.” The presentation left an indelible mark on the students and faculty, with the Director Passaes expressing excitement for future collaborations. Plans for a month-long tour across Brazil to reach even more students are already underway.

This visit was more than just a presentation; it was a reminder of the importance of investing in youth. Roy Juarez, Jr. continues to prove that resilience knows no borders, and every story has the power to change lives.
